Hot News!

Welcome to 2014!

The past year at Highfalutin' has been a journey through ups and downs.

A reminder that having these wonderful companions is such a blessing and we need
to cherish our time with them, whether a hope for the future, such as a pregnancy,
or savoring time with our best buddy.

The good news got us through.

Vogue's incredible success, ending the year as the
#4 ranked Standard Poodle in the US in UKC!

Enjoying retirement... again!

Candy's gorgeous girls, safely delivered, sweet and happy.

Poppy's special babies, a wonderful combination of diverse lineage,
health and full of beautiful puppiness!

The Highfalutin' Gang had a GREAT time at Poodle Day, a fabulous benefit for
Nor Cal Poodle Rescue, in Carmel this year.  Our theme was Clowns/Circus and our
proud Poodle families rose to the occasion!  We had some 25 Poodles and about 40
related peeps sharing the festivities...the Parade, lunch together, the Beach Play,
Cocktail Parties and a group dinner.  Already making plans for 2014!!!

REST WELL SWEET BOY
Nov. 10, 2003 - Nov. 7, 2013

 OSCAR
UKC CH. ALAMAN HIGHFALUTIN' HOLLYWOOD

Our wonderful boy went to the Rainbow Bridge yesterday.
We are completely stunned and heartbroken.
He was at home with his Mom, Carolyn, it was very
sudden and he did not suffer.

Oscar was my first Standard show dog. He has been the "face"
of Highfalutin' Poodles since our webpage went up many years ago.
He loved the shows as a puppy, got a couple of AKC points and
also his UKC Championship. But when I took him back out for shows
after he grew all that big hair, he decided the whole show scene was
not for him and that was that!  Off came the hair!!

He was the Daddy to three beautiful litters here, his babies are all
grown up and doing great. He produced two AKC Champions, Brie
and Zak. He went on to be a wonderful Service Dog for Robin for
many years. When he was retired from that job he became the
adored companion to Carolyn and her Mom. He will be terribly
missed, he was a smart, sweet, loving boy who brought much joy
to those in his life.

RIPmy good boy

Celebrating our newest UKC GRAND CHAMPION!!!

"Vogue sizes up the competition"

Our Vogue wrapped up her UKC Grand Championship at the Silver State
APBT Club shows.  Finishing in "grand" style, Vogue took back to back
Best Of Breed wins AND back to back Gun Dog Group FIRST place wins!

Vogue is currently ranked as the
#1 Standard Poodle in the US in UKC.

What a wonderful way to end her show dog career.

August 2013

Back in February 2013, after completing her UKC and International
Championships, I "retired" Vogue.  But watching her out in the yard,
her gorgeous stride and beautiful structure, I decided that maybe we
should get out there and have some more fun.

So we took her back out in UKC where she has not disappointed me.  Several
Best of Breeds and Group wins and placements, and currently the #2 ranked
Standard Poodle in the country in UKC.  She also has three passes towards her
UKC Grand Championship!  We are having a great time, she loves the shows
and I am so proud of my Bijou Grandbaby!

Goodbye to Phinn

Nov. 23, 2012 - June 17, 2013

The Highfalutin' family is heartbroken over the loss of sweet Phinn.
We share the grief with his parents, Karen and Wendell, and his
brother Otis.

Phinn contracted AIHA/IMT (Auto Immune Mediated Hemolytic
Anemia/Immune Mediated Thrombocytopenia). Phinn and his parents
fought a good fight, but the assault on his young system was simply
too much for him to overcome.

Everything possible was done to try to get Phinn through this, and to
reach a positive outcome.  We want to thank our Highfalutin' families,
and our many dog world friends and hundreds of total strangers, who
supported Phinn in his fight. The outpouring of concern, the warm words
of care, the prayers, emails, and phone calls from all over the world,
were very much appreciated by all of us.

Phinn's journey was posted on our Facebook page
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Highfalutin-Poodles/128047687252261
and, as of this date, has been viewed by more than 15,000 people.
His life was cut short by something we all do to protect our animals.
VACCINATIONS. Please read Phinn's story. He is one of hundreds who
have been lost due to vaccine induced conditions.  The following links are
worth reading by anyone who wants to understand better
how to protect your pet.

http://www.itsfortheanimals.com/DODDS-CHG-VACC-PROTOCOLS.HTM

Phinn's parents and I always felt that Phinn was a gift and that his
presence here had special meaning and purpose.  Perhaps his journey
and his passing, will help to educate others about Vaccinations, and
create a dialogue between owners and their Vets about what really
is best for their companion.

Rest well, sweet Phinn.
 You have made a difference.

JUNE 2013

My good friend Toni Tuso-Faber, is the talent behind the Poodle Tales. It is a series of
24 books, games, there's now an App for it, will be clothing, toys and they are expanding
their horizons by the minute. Toni is a huge supporter of all things Poodle, rescue, helping
Poodle families who need it, donating to the care of dogs, you name it..if it's about a
Poodle, Toni is there.
I really want to be able to help her in this endeavor. So I am spreading the word
to those who I think would appreciate her love for our Poodles, and who would enjoy
sharing it via the books (also in e-book), games, the App, whatever. Please check
out the website (link below) and see what there is, the books are available on
Amazon (link below) and also Barnes and Noble. And of course there is a Face book
page (link below).

The hardcover copies of the books are GORGEOUS and would be something to
treasure for years to come. They are also available in paperback (I have not seen
these personally, but knowing Toni, I would assume they too are fabulous!) Once you
get your copy, you might recognize a couple of Poodle names in there :-) Dah and
Vogue were included as names for two of the puppy stars!
My wish is to help Toni sell 500 books, hardcover or paperback. Or a game would
be great too! We all have kids in our families..ours, or nieces and nephews, our
best friend's kids.. so if each of you only bought ONE, just for one of the kids in
your life, that would be fantastic. Or buy one for EVERY child in your family, or,
better yet, get a jump start on the whole set!! There are birthdays, Christmas, other
special days, or even just regular days, where it would brighten up a child's face!
When you buy one of the books, games etc, please leave feedback
or a review on it.

Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Toni-Tuso-Faber/e/B00D3PRJXK/ref=ntt_athr_dp_pel_pop_1

So, for well under $20.00 you can buy a wonderful gift, supply hours of good
reading (or play if you get a game), help check off your shopping list and spread
the fun and joy of Poodles! OR, if you would prefer to do something on a bigger
scale, how about buying a few and then donating them to a Poodle Rescue for their
next Fund Raiser?? Now THAT'S a GREAT idea!!!! I happen to know that NOR
CAL POODLE RESCUE will be needing items for their
POODLE DAY AUCTION in October 2013.
500 copies! I know we can make it happen in a Poodle heartbeat!
Thanks everyone! Smooches to the pooches!!

April 14, 2013

Nor Cal Poodle Rescue hosted a fantastic get together and fund raiser,
appropriately called "Tea for Two, Poodle and You!"  Among the many
fun things was a photoshoot done by SHARE THE JOY PHOTOGRAPHY,
who donated the proceeds from her wonderful work to Nor Cal.

Below are pictures of two of the Highfalutin' gang,  Augie, who shares
his life with Robin, Scottie and his little Poodle brother Mayson, and the
undisputed Diva of the Cabral household, Allie, who lets Sharon, Kevan
and Boomer live with her.

March 2013

While the Hot News Page is usually reserved for Poodle accomplishments,
show wins and other fun news, I feel that the article linked below needs
to be brought to the attention of all dog owners or people looking for
a new companion.  It has long been my policy to require minimal
vaccinations (per Jean Dodds protocol) for all the puppies/dogs who
leave here but I have never found anything that so clearly explains the
potential for disaster connected with vaccinations.  I sincerely hope that
anyone who "passes by here" will take the time to read this and
take it to heart.

RBIS U-CH/INT'L CH. Highfalutin' Hope Springs Eternal

Sailing off into retirement
at just 14 months of age

Vogue finished her UKC show career today, achieving her Championship
with a Best of Breed, a Gun Dog Group First over a beautiful bunch of
Breed winners and...the icing on the cake..a RESERVE BEST IN SHOW,
selected from a full compliment of fabulous Group winners!  Could not
be more thrilled with her short but illustrious show career!

Our sassy and flashy Miss Vogue,
Highfalutin' Hope Springs Eternal,
starts off our new year with a bang!!

Vogue attained her International Champion title over the weekend
of Jan 12-13.  The International shows are a venue based on the
FCI/European system where dogs are critiqued individually and
given a Score based on their qualities or lack thereof.  They are not
competing directly against other dogs of the same breed in that one
or more can get the same score.  Thus it is just about each individual
dog and how they "stack up" to the standard of the breed. For a
Champion title, the dog must get three VG 1 (highest possible) scores,
by three different Judges, from at least two different countries.

So proud of this special, and beautiful, girl.

AND ANOTHER YEAR IS UPON US..
WELCOME 2013!

FINAL NEWS FOR 2012

Wrapping up a fantastic 2012 with Cricket, Teddy and
their Super Mom, Barbara!

Sooooo proud of these two wonderful Poodles and their
Mom and Trainer, Barbara!

Finishing 2012 in grand style, Teddy earned his third leg, and title, in Rally
Level 1 (APDT Rally) with a PERFECT SCORE of 210 points!  He was granted
an AWARD OF EXCELLENCE from the Association of Pet Dog Trainers with
an average score for his three legs of 207 points. (A team has to have an average
of 190 or more to receive this award...Teddy far surpassed this requirement!)
Teddy and Barbara were also honored by their Training Club, Port Chester
Obedience Training Club, as one of the TOP TEN SCORING TEAMS for 2012!
They also have their first 2 legs in AKC Rally Novice. What a super pair!!

Highfalutin' Love On The Run CGC RL1 TD

Highfalutin' Hear Me Roar CGC RL1

And the petite and firey Cricket, wrapped up her 2012 by getting her CGC
(Canine Good Citizen), which we already KNEW she was  :-) but this made it
official!  Adding to that achievement, Cricket and her Mom kept busy with her
Rally competitions.  They ended the year having achieved her Rally level 1 title
with a perfect score of 210 and on her first leg in Rally Level 2A (off-leash) they took
first place with 206 points! Miss Cricket also has 2 legs towards her AKC Rally
Novice title.  Yeah girls!!!

POODLE DAY!!!

Our second year attending Poodle Day in Carmel-By-The-Sea, benefiting
NOR CAL POODLE RESCUE.  What a GREAT event, Poodles everywhere, all
shapes, sizes and colors!  The Parade is the main event and is just so much fun!
We had about 20 of the Highfalutin' Poodle kids, and all of their respective
peeps, walking in the Parade, humans dressed up in Tuxedo Tshirts and the Poodles
had red satin bow ties.  Too Highfalutin' !!

A few of the Highfalutin' Gang

Let the Parade begin!

Royce and Mackenzie

Mayson and Augie

This is followed by Beach Playtime which is just amazing!  Think of some 200 Poodles
running loose on the beach, playing in the surf, with each other, catching balls and
frisbees and generally making everyone laugh and smile at their joyous behaviour.

We had a GREAT time and are already looking forward to next year!  For info on this
wonderful event, go to  poodleday.com  Come and share in all the festivities and
support a wonderful cause.

Celebrating our
newest Champion!

UKC CH Highfalutin' Honey And Hotcakes

Poppy enjoys her new status as a Champion by running in the woods
and rolling in the grass and doing all that fun stuff that was "off limits"
while we tried to protect all that precious Poodle hair.  She finished her
Championship at 11 months of age, by winning best Of Breed and Gun Dog
Group FIRST PLACE at the Inagural Shows for the Cali Style
Club in Galt, CA.

Way to go, Poppers!

August 2012

TWO TIMES THE FUN!!!
The fabulous duo belonging to Bob and Barbara, the petite Cricket,
aka Highfalutin' Hear me Roar and his Handsomeness, Teddy, aka
Highfalutin' Love On The Run CGC had a stellar day at their first
AKC Obedience Trial, competing in Novice Rally.

Cricket had a great run
and finished in Third Place
with a score of 96!

And Teddy out did himself
and took FIRST PLACE
with a score of 99!

Both were trained and handled by their very proud Mom Barbara.
I am SO thrilled with the wonderful job Barbara has done with
her two special kids!

Last but not least,
the final headlines for 2011

Our beautiful Soda, U-CH Highfalutin' Happiness Is Huffish,
completed the requirements for her CGC and is also
a Certified Therapy Dog!

She now makes the rounds at Renown Hospital In Reno with
her Mom, Lois.  They concentrate on Oncology  patients and their
families where they bring a little soft, warm Poodleness and joy on
their visits.  Soda is a Della and Max baby.

On December 11, the effevescent Cricket, Highfalutin' Hear Me Roar,
achieved her APDT Rally Level 1A first leg AND won First Place in the
process!  They took a Third place and garnered her second leg later
the same day!  Cricket is a Della and Digory baby.

Cricket is the first dog that Barbara has entered competitively.
What a fantastic pair!  I'm sure there will be many more
blue ribbons in their future.

His Handsomeness, Teddy, Highfalutin' Love On The Run, achieved
his CGC at 10 months of age in mid 2011.  On November 29, at just
fifteen months of age, Teddy and each of his Trainers/Handlers,
Barbara and Bob (Mom and Dad), were certified to volunteer for
Animal Assisted Therapy work, sanctioned by the Good Dog Foundation.
Teddy is a Vikki and Reese  baby.

Good Dog Foundation provides Therapy Dog services to people in health care,
social services, educational and community facilities and at disaster sites around the
country. We are so proud of this great Team and the wonderful service they provide.

Annie and Tova, two beautiful little girls from our Annie and Reese litter,
were selected to become Service Dogs for their new owners.

Both have started their training, which will be continuous over the next 2 to 3 years,
and are doing extremely well.  We are so very honored that these pups were
chosen to do this amazing work!

Wishing everyone a fabulous New Year!
May all of your dreams come true!

6 August 2011

WOO HOO!!!
Today we celebrated our
newest AKC Champion!

Reese, affectionately known as Monkey, wrapped up his quest
for his American Championship title at the Richmond Dog Fanciers
show in Dixon, CA.  He was shown to his final point by Ann Martin,
who is his "Gramma", by reason of owning Reese's daddy, Digory.

This wonderful accomplishment is a testamonial to his parents and
all that they brought together in Reese and his littermates.  He is
the first Champion for both of them,  however we would like to
dedicate this achievement to his dad, Digory,
CH Feldspar Midnight Oil.

Digory went to the Rainbow Bridge this past week..very
unexpectedly and much too soon.  He was handsome and sweet,
an exceptional dog who will be so missed by all of us. It was
an emotional, and bittersweet, moment when Reese took the win as
both Ann and I were thinking about Digory and how proud
he would be of his boy.

Rest well Diggy.
You will always be here with us.

July 23-24, 2011

Our little Miss Candy spent her weekend at the Gold Country
Hounds and Hunters UKC Multi breed Shows in Placerville.
Despite the oven like temperatures, mid to upper 90's, Candy kept
her cool and walked away with 2 Gun Dog Group second place wins
and a Gun Dog Group first place!

It was one of the biggest UKC shows we have had in Northern
California for probably close to 2 years!  Great fun  to see
so many entries, new faces, and wonderful dogs!

May 21, 2011

After sitting out for well over a year, we thought it was
time to let Candy have some "ring time" and enjoy showing
off some of that hair we've been growing!

She hasn't lost her touch and took home a Reserve Best In Show
at the UKC show in Loomis, CA today!  Not a bad way to
get her groove back!

March 2011

We are so proud to announce that our
Reese is currently ranked

and are SO very proud of our "Monkey".

Dec. 12, 2010

We are busting our buttons to announce that Reese is now a
CANADIAN CHAMPION !!

In just two weekends, 6 shows, our Brown boy took Winners
Dog every show, Best Opposite Sex in two shows and Best of
Variety in four shows (beating out Champions for the big win in 3
of the 4 shows)  He proudly follows in his Mommy Della's pawprints
and we are all so very proud of his accomplishments in Canada.

Nov 28, 2010

Reese takes on Canada!

My handsome Brownie, Reese, BPIS UCH Highfalutin' Hot
Commodity, has started his "big boy" show career in the great
north, our neighbor, Canada.  We have been growing that yummy
Brown coat for over a year now and are so happy to have him
out struttin' his stuff!

At his first weekend of shows, he took Winners Dog all three
shows, Best of Winners and Best of Variety in one show, and Best
Opposite Sex in the other two.  He now has 5 points, and both
Majors so he is well on his way!  That's our boy!

July 23, 2010

The sweet and lovely Bliss (aka Zuri) hit the show circuit again
after a long hiatus and easily wrapped up her Championship with
back to back Best of breed wins.  We were thrilled to have her
other Mom, BJ, there with us to share in this moment!
Rock on, Bliss!

February 27-28, 2010

Nor Cal APBT Club
UKC Multi Breed Shows

We had a double dose of great wins this weekend with
the siblings, Reese and Candy.

On Saturday, Reese was entered in both shows.  It  was a wet,
drenching, miserable day weather wise but worth it...my Brown
boy won both Gun Dog Groups and a Reserve Best In Show!

On Sunday, Reese stayed home.  But baby sister Candy,
daintily following in her brother's pawprints, and under sunny
skies,  did a repeat..she also won both Gun Dog Groups and took
a Reserve Best In Show as well!

These pups are growing up so beautifully and
are such a joy in so many ways.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2010 !!

Soda, our lovely UKC CH Highfalutin' Happiness Is Huffish,
secured the #6 spot in the UKC  TOP TEN Standard
Poodles for 2009!

Checking out the competition

This was achieved in just ONE weekend of shows where she
amassed 40 Top Ten Points along with 4 Passes towards her
GRAND Championship (she needs just one more).

Resting on her laurels!

What wonderful news to start out this new decade!

November 27-29, 2009

Three of the Highfalutin' Poodle gang attended the UKC
show cluster put on by Gold Country Hounds and Hunters
over the Thanksgiving weekend.

By all accounts, these were the biggest UKC shows ever held
on the West Coast, with entrants from California (of course),
Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Washinton, Utah, Colorado and on and on.
It was a HUGE success, 6 shows over 3 days, Raffles, Auctions, Weight
Pull, special training classes, Rally, even a working kitchen with hot
food available.

We had a great time!

And we have two new UKC Champions..

Reese, now UKC Champion HIghfalutin' Hot Commodity, won
Best Male and Best of Winners in three of four shows.  His baby
sister, Candy, now UKC Champion Highfalutin' Hard Candy Kisses,
won Best Female several times.  In one show she also took Best of
Breed over 5 Champions and 2 Grand Champions AND went on to win
a Gun Dog Group FIRST PLACE out of a very nice line up of Breed
winners!  All at 7 months of age!

Their half sister, Soda, UKC Champion Highfalutin' Happiness Is
Huffish, was brought out of early "retirement" for some fun and games
and rocked it with 4 Champion Class wins (over 4 and 5 other Champions),
3 Best of Breed wins and 3 Gun Dog Group First Place wins!  Not too
shabby for our lovely white girl who got her groove back big time!

November 2, 2009

Flee Wee, ever the hot Poodle girl, hits the big screen!

http://www.sniffthemovie.com/blog/labels/snapshots.html

Queen Flee Wee, and her loving parents, Lizz and John, have
continued to bring about laughs, smiles, creativity and
Poodle awareness!  We are SO proud of them!

October 16, 2009

Our Candy, Highfalutin' Hard Candy Kisses, made her AKC show debut in grand
style at the Poodle Club of Central California's Specialty Show.  Just 6 months old by
a few days, and a whopping 34 pounds if wet, Candy impressed the Judge with her
style, grace and superb structure.  Candy won Best Puppy in Standards and went on
to win BEST PUPPY IN SPECIALTY!

I am SOOO thrilled by this wonderful acknowledgment of such a special puppy,
out of a long hoped for breeding.  She REALLY does bring out the best of her
Mom, Della, and her Daddy, Digory.. See Candy's personal webpage for more
information on her backgound!

Sept. 6, 2009

Our new addition, the mischievous Echo, aka
Arrowhead's Highfalutin' Dream, went from 0 to 100
in short order and is now a UKC CHAMPION!   She finished
her title in only 2 weekends of shows, with an impressive
2 Reserve Best In Show wins!

Echo is co-owned with Cindy Erickson of
Arrowhead Acres in NC.

 August 29-30, 2009

At the Nor Cal APBT Club UKC Multi Breed shows, our young
siblings, Candy, Highfalutin' Hard Candy Kisses and Reese,
Highfalutin' Hot Commodity,  made their show debuts at
just 4 1/2 months of age.

On Saturday, Candy was entered and won RESERVE BEST
PUPPY IN SHOW out of a beautiful lineup of  6 or 7 up
and coming UKC stars!

On Sunday, Candy sat on the sidelines and her Brown brother,
Reese, got his turn.  Not to be outdone by his sister, Reese
took BEST PUPPY IN SHOW!

They both handled themselves beautifully, taking in all the
sights, smells and activity with ease and confidence.  I am so in
love with these two pups, they are just a joy to watch.

April 5, 2009

ZAK HAS BEEN FOUND!!!

Photos by Matt Glaser

Tuesday 6:30 PM   March 17
Two x-country skiers in the back country of the Alpental ski area spent
an hour and a half searching for the location of the dog they heard barking..
Gabe Newton and Matt Glaser were searching in almost 5 feet of new snow when
they finally found  Zak, who was "hunkered down" in a small den he had apparently
dug for himself.  They did all the right things in not frightening Zak and causing
him to bolt, gained his trust and began to lead him out to safety. As luck would
have it, Zak's mom, Rachael, was snowshoeing in on the same route looking for Zak.
As they approached each other, Rachael couldn't see Zak and asked them if they
had seen her dog ;-)))  Of course, we all know what happened next!

Our heartfelt thanks to Gabe and Matt, who responded to Zak's barks and
spent so much time ensuring that they found him and brought him to safety.

Zak is very thin but otherwise seems to have survived his ordeal very well.
Even that gorgeous hair managed to come out of this unscathed.

We are so grateful for all the love, prayers and support we have received over
these four agonizing days.  We know they helped to bring Zak home to us.

To all of you ZAK Supporters everywhere...
(Prayer Senders...Good Thought Thinkers...Idea Suggesters...
Spirit Dancers...and a whale of a lot more More):

It was an OVERWHELMING swell of GOOD WILL towards
ZAK that was most certainly AMAZING GRACE!!!!!

We all love Miracles, and we sure got one this time!

Happiness and Thankfulness Reigns in the World of Zak!

Thanks to Each and Every one of You!

ZAK IS LOST

The Alpental Ski Area is in the SNOQUALMIE
PASS region in Washington state.
It has been snowing for three days now and we
are worried sick about our boy.  He is in a Continental
Show Trim, his hair is banded from the top of his head,
down his neck and back.  The bands are wrapped in
Blue Plastic. He is not neutered. He is Microchipped.

January 2009
IT'S OFFICIAL!!!

DAH is the # 2 Ranked Multi Color Standard Poodle in the US
for 2008!!  Let's hear it for our special spotted girl !!

Not bad for a puppy who got started at just 6 months of age
in mid May of 2008.   She  has amassed an impressive record
of 3 Best In Shows, 2 Reserve Best In Show, 11 Group 1sts,
4 Group 2nds,  7 Group 3rds and 5 Group 4ths.  DAH has never
failed to place in the group.  She is the YOUNGEST DOG OF
ANY BREED to win a UKC BEST IN SHOW, achieved at exactly
6 months old to the day, and the youngest UKC Champion of record
at 6 months and 1 day old.  She went on to quickly attain her
UKC GRAND Champion title at barely eight months of age.  She has
been a joy in so many ways, as my companion who snuggles so sweetly,
a friend who always listens intently,a puppy who brings out the best
in me and starts my day with a smile, a showdog who makes me so
very proud and who is a stunning ambassador for the Multi
Colored Standard Poodle breed.

For now, as we head into 2009, there are no big plans for DAH. She
can play with wild abandon in the rain and the snow if it suits her fancy
that day, and get as dirty as she pleases without having to endure yet
another bath,. She deserves every moment to celebrate her puppyhood!

And sneaking in at # 7 Ranked in the country..the widget..
Miss Small But Mighty, our
UKC GR CH Highfalutin' Hush-Hush, AKA Ivy

Shown very little, she managed to grab her UKC Championship in
only 4 shows, and her UKC GRAND Championship in the minimum
possible of  5 shows, with 3 Gun Dog Group 1sts and 2 Group 2nds
and a RESERVE BEST IN SHOW!  Not too shabby..we are so proud
of this tiny bundle of attitude and beauty!!!  She is also now "retired"
and allowed to  do it all with no regard for cleanliness!

December 26-29, 2008

The final UKC shows of the year were held in Oroville, CA over
a period of four days. The California Classic hosted a turnout that was
filled with some of the top ranked dogs in the country, including the
# 2 Rat Terrier,   # 4 Labrador,  # 1 and the # 5 Pit Bulls,
# 1 Solid color Standard Poodle, the # 1 Perra De Presa Canario,
 # 3 and # 7 Beagles,  # 1 Rottie, the # 4 Parson Terrier,
# 1 Catahoula, the # 1 Staffordshire Bull Terrier... to name just a
few of the great dogs who competed in the many events.  There
were eight UKC Conformation shows, Weight Pulls, Agri Lure and Lure
Coursing.  It was the largest show UKC has ever held in this area
and it was a huge success!

Among this impressive array of entrants was our Miss Dah,
UKC GRCH Highfalutin' Hits The Spot, who finished her UKC show
career with a string of 8 Best Of Breed wins, 8 Gun Dog Group placements
and a BEST IN SHOW.  What a great way to end the year!

November 2008

Reno, AKC/UKC CH. Highfalutin' Hoodwinked At Kaylens has added
an International Champion title to his accomplishments. What a guy!!
He is now retired and will be finishing his health testing.  He will
be available AT STUD to approved bitches after May 2009.

October 26, 2008

Reno, AKC Ch. Highfalutin' Hoodwinked At Kaylens is now a
UKC CHAMPION!  He wrapped it up with Gun Dog Group 2 and
Gun Dog Group 3 placements in solid competition.  Not only am I only
plain old happy about his new title but I am so PROUD of his owner,
Terri Cothrum of Whiterock Standard Poodles.  Terri is disabled and
is confined to a wheelchair.  She trained Reno to work with her in her
chair and showed him to his Championship!
WAY TO GO TERRI AND RENO!!!

Our handsome Silver boy, UKC CH. Highfalutin' Zacharia Rainier,
had a phenomenal start to his AKC show career, winning Winners
Dog and Best of Winners for 3 Majors and 12 points!
Hold onto your hats!

Zak will soon have his own page here on the website so watch for it!

Our petite girl, Emma, Highfalutin' Hot Topic At Kayens, also had
a great weekend, taking Winners Bitch twice, for a total of 8 points

Our handsome boy, Reno, arrived home in Texas
today to his "other" Mom, Terri, as
AKC CHAMPION Highfalutin' Hoodwinked At Kaylens !!!
He was shown a bit as a puppy, winning several points, and
then sat out doing the coat growing thing until July.  He finished his
Championship with 3 Majors and a string of 6 out of 6 Winners
Dog wins!  Reno is just 16 months old and we are SO proud of this
wonderful boy!  He was beautifully handled by his Daddy's

Dah took a Reserve Best In Show.

Rancho Cordova UKC Shows

Miss Mitzi, AKC CH. Highfalutin'  Hocus-Pocus At Kaylens,
adds another title to her name, finishing her UKC Championship

Breed over 3 Champions and a Gun Dog Group 3!.

And not to be outdone, little Ivy, Highfalutin' Hush-Hush,
started, and finished, her UKC Championship in just 4 shows!

Ivy strutted her stuff with style and grace, winning two Gun
Dogs Groups 1sts and two Gun Dog Group 2nds!

Congrats to our AKC/UKC Champion Mitzi
and our UKC Champion Ivy!

What a fabulous weekend for the Highfalutin' Poodles!

Our little Dah (La-Dee-Dah aka Highfalutin' Hits The Spot)
has lived up to every wild dream we had for her...and then some!

May 10 and 11, 2008

In her first UKC shows as a competitive entry, at exactly
6 months old to the day, Dah wow'd them.  Winning 1st place in
the first show's Gun Dog Group, beating several UKC Champions
in the process....and that was only the start of her day!  In the
second show of the day, she repeated her Gun Dog Group win and
went on to handily win BEST IN SHOW!  She has surpassed every
tiny wish and hope I have had for her, all in her first day of shows!

On Day Two of this 4 show weekend, she placed a respectable
Gun Dog Group 2 and a Gun Dog Group 3, neatly wrapping
up her UKC CHAMPIONSHIP!  All at the ripe old age of
6 months and 1 day!  Doesn't get any better than that!

Since a dog cannot be entered in regular classes and earn a
title prior to 6 months of age, we are pretty sure she is the
youngest Multi Color Poodle to win a Championship and,
most certainly, she is the youngest in UKC history to
 win Best In Show!

BIS UKC CHAMPION HIGHFALUTIN' HITS THE SPOT

April 6, 2008
Mitzi did her magic and has transformed herself into

AKC/UKC Highfalutin' Hocus-Pocus At Kaylens!

At only 11 months old, with just 4 weekends of shows,
Mitzi outdid herself. Under the superb guidance of her daddy's
owner, the renowned Kay Palade-Peiser, Mitzi achieved her AKC
Championship with THREE, back to back, FIVE point Majors!
I am thrilled beyond words.

Watch for Mitzi's brother,Highfalutin' Hoodwinked At Kaylens, to
be making his mark!  He is AKC pointed and winning steadily.

Not to be outdone, their sister, Highfalutin' Hot Topic At Kaylens will be
making her debut in the show ring at the PCA National Specialty in the 9-12
month class.  She's a beauty and we are very excited about her.

Last, but certainly not least, Highfalutin' Zachariah Rainer, a stunning Silver
boy, will be hitting the ring  this summer.  He's been lazing around growing
his gorgeous coat for almost two years now!  Time to spring this boy
on the judges!

Our young boy, Reno,
Highfalutin' Hoodwinked At Kaylens,
made his ring debut in Florida on March 15, 2008.

In his first weekend out, he won his 9-12 Month Class and took Reserve
Winners Dog both days!  The following weekend, he took Winners Dog &
Best Of Winners for his first 2 AKC points! He also won Best Puppy
and a Puppy Group 3! Not a bad way to get started!
 What a guy!

Soda makes her UKC debut in grand style!
March 8 and 9, 2008.

Our beautiful young girl, Soda, made her debut in the UKC ring this
weekend. She blew them away in the Breed,  taking Best Female, Best of
Winners and Best of Breed in the first three shows, attaining  her UKC
Championship in the minimum number of shows possible!  She then went on
to win Best of Breed again in the fourth show.  There were some very nice
Standards entered, including a handsome Am/Can Champion but
Soda walked away with the big wins.

Then to add to our delight each show, she took three Group 2's, a
Group 1 and a Reserve Best In Show!  We could not have
been more proud of her!

Soda is now
UKC CHAMPION Highfalutin' Happiness Is Huffish!
